Bear Up

THE BOOK--> "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ". Galatians 6:2

THE MISSION--> An Army unit is only combat effective if it truly operates as a unit.  A unit is a team and family that works together, focused on one mission, and doing whatever it takes to chase after that mission.  If one is selfish as an American soldier, he/she breaks up the unity, distracts from the mission at hand, and puts lives in jeopardy.

As Christ-followers, it works very similar.  Jesus gave us the mission (Matthew 28).  We're commanded to be of one mind to accomplish this mission.  We must operate like a unit, all focused on the same thing.  That one thing is Christ.  A big part of our unity is fulfilling what Christ called, "the greatest commandment".  We are to love God with all our hearts and love others.  Loving others involves serving others, looking out for their welfare above our own, and bearing their burdens.

What does it mean "to bear"?  To "bear" is to "take on".  To bear a burden is to take on a burden.  This means if your buddy is heartbroken because his wife is sick, you become heartbroken as well.  As we bear one another's burdens we begin to learn how to help serve each other.  It makes us stronger.  And it makes it all the more sweet, when our burdens turn to seasons of joy and laughter.  Just as we share burdens, we should also share joy.

So let's "bear up" and watch in amazement as Christ brings together His disciples!

THE COMMANDER--> Almighty God, keep our hearts in tune with Christ.  Bring us together.  May we bear one another's burdens and fulfill the mission you have brought before us.  In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
